Vertically Striped Radio - Episode 171 - 07-28-12 - Fixing the Olympics
A shorter show this week, as Craig was headed to Coors Field for a Rockies game. We still managed to squeeze in some tremendous Olympics talk, as Craig was joined by Face and The Whale and we discussed the most ridiculous Olympic sports and the odd ball Olympic Opening Ceremonies in London. Craig also gave his Magnificent Seven: Top 7 Intramural Team Names from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The show wrapped with a music recommendation from The Lumineer's of the song "Stubborn Love".

Vertically Striped Radio - Episode 170 - 07-21-12 - The 4th Annual Sockie Awards and a Response to Tragedy
This show is a tale of two episodes. The first half is fun, as we do our usual odd-ball news and award the 4th annual Sockie awards with The Ed. The second half is more somber, and far from our usual fare as Craig wraps up with some solemn and personal discussion of the shooting at the Century 16 theater in Aurora and more importantly how to respond to the tragedy. The show closes with a music recommendation from Craig of "Oh My God" by Jars of Clay.

Jazz Dancing!
Jen and I went to Denver's City Park tonight, and they were having a Jazz concert. There were a LOT of people there, and it was fun even though the "music" was jazz and therefore borderline unlistenable. The guy in this video made my night. Dancing in public is a privilege, not a right. This guy is OUT OF CONTROL. It's hilarious. I had trouble keeping the camera steady I was laughing so hard.

Vertically Striped Radio - Episode 169 - 07-14-12 - Fear of the Mentally Handicapped
It was Woody Guthrie's 100th birthday, so Craig opened up the show with some Woody info to honor him. Then the show went all sorts of places from there.
We had a terrific news story from Dallas about a naked man driving a truck into a mall, then we discussed some contraversies surrounding the London Olympics, and then Craig admitted to a strange fear of the mentally handicapped and the guys agreed that Vegetarians are smug in "Something to Think About".
The Ed called in at this point, and we jumped around in typical Ed fashion discussing Cowboys football, Peyton Manning, and NBA Career salaries. When Elevation called in towards the end of the show, we somehow started discussing the best looking redheads in history.
We wrapped things up with a Vertically Striped Music Recommendation from Woody Guthrie of "The Car Song". This was an outstanding appearance from The Ed and a really fun show. We went the full 2 hours despite Craig's best intentions to keep the show to an hour.

Vertically Striped Radio - Episode 168 - 07-07-12 - Mayberry's Finest
It was the Andy Griffith episode, as we honored Mayberry's sherriff by reliving VSR past as well as listening to the comedy act that first made Griffith famous. We also inducted Andy into the VSR Hall of Fame, as he joined John Elway, Joe Sakic, and Paul Newman.
We also touched on some random sports topics like NBA Free Agency, MMA, and the Coney Island Hot Dog eating contest. Craig finally played Robin Williams' take on the Scottish inventing golf, and we announced the nominees for the 4th annual Sockie Awards.
